Two bindweed flowers and a few buds along a vine that crept among rocks in a narrow strip between the sidewalk and a road, a space where no cultivated plants are grown, in southeast Denver. Bindweed is an aggressive plant that takes over many yards around town where the owners don’t go to lengths to combat it, but it also grows resiliently where no other plants do in spite of the dry climate and has pretty white and pink flowers. Not long after I photographed the plants in this stretch of rocks, someone tried to thoroughly remove them all; the next time I walked by, I didn’t see a spot of green.
