Harvey County saw a lot more rain than usual in the first half of this year – flooding fields and ditches, overflowing riverbanks that are usually small streams in the summer, and keeping farmers from harvesting their wheat in time. I was visiting for a family reunion in June; we were treated to a long light show one night as a storm rolled across the sky, before it reached us and dropped a torrent of rain and hail. I had a monopod with me, but no tripod, so I just held it as still as I could while I tried to catch the lightning. It was quite a show.
