roots

This black and white photograph features the giant roots of a tropical tree. The tall, narrow roots stick up out of the ground, and the space between them is so large that a person could curl up and sit inside the cavity. Who knows, it might even make a nice napping spot! (It’s a nature reserve, so don’t do that.) The image was taken on 35mm film on a Nikon SLR camera, in the Kula Bird Park of Fiji in January 2005.
